The Opportunity:

Komatsu is currently seeking an experienced leader who is technically minded, trade qualified, with industry relevant experience for the position of Service Manager based in Emerald.

As the Service Manager, you will be involved in service provision and customer relationship management, whilst focusing on operational and safety excellence, and continuous improvement of the department. Your key accountabilities will be to direct, organize, manage and control the service workflow to meet the local fleet demand and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & mentor the Service Department employees to ensure high levels of customer service and appropriate behaviours are maintained.
  • Provide day to day management, which may include:
  • Monitoring performance gaps
  • Setting training goals/cross skilling
  • Developing rosters and coordinating staff changes
  • Monitoring and scheduling work
  • Monitoring overtime and managing employee absenteeism
  • Ensure a safe operation which is compliant with Komatsu’s Golden Safety Rules in the workshop and field service.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with customers both internal and external.
  • Ensure WIP is constantly monitored, including preparation of quotes, invoicing and service reports.
  • Work with other departments, branches and regions to establish Komatsu Australia as a premium supplier of equipment and after-market services.
  • Ensure all Service Department activities meet the relevant environment and OH&S regulations.

The knowledge, skills and abilities we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience in Management or Supervision of an OEM Service Department
  • Ability to prepare & monitor annual income and expenditure budgets
  • Appropriate demeanour for supervising, assisting and training staff to create a positive “Team atmosphere”
  • Ability to communicate with end users at all levels, demonstrate an interest and understanding of end user operations and service requirements
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and computer skills
  • Current drivers licence
