Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.
Safety and Contractor Management Coordinator – Aquilla Mine
Reporting to the Safety and Contractor Management Superintendent, you will assist the in driving the effective implementation of the Contractor Management Plan onsite at Aquila Mine. You will do this by offering guidance and advise to Company representatives on requirements for compliance to the Contractor Management Plan.
This role will be rewarding and varied and will include the following:
- Infield assurance of underground and surface activities to ensure Safety, Health and Environmental risk for all parties on site are mitigated
- Routinely perform Audits and Health and Safety Inspections to demonstrate commitment to monitoring and reviewing processes.
- Identify emerging or key contractor issues and recommend approaches to systematically deal with them that are consistent with the Contractor Management Plan and other SHMS documents.
- Ensure that safety, health and environment key performance indicators for contractors are being measured by Company Representatives
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Safety (or a related discipline)
- Demonstrated experience in an underground coal mining environment
- Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying risks and implementing safe working practices
This is a Monday to Friday position, based in Middlemount, QLD. Choose from subsidised accommodation and relocation assistance.
