Hail Creek Mine is a large and dynamic operation located 120 kilometres south-west of Mackay in the northern Bowen Basin mining region of central Queensland. With a mine life for 20+ years, production nearing 10 million tonnes per year and producing both coking and thermal coal products, Hail Creek is one of the premier coal mines in Australia.

Reporting to the Senior Safety Systems and Risk Coordinator, you will be a key member of the Health Safety & Training team. You will use your experience and passion to promote safety leadership, facilitate and coach supervisors and employees in risk and incident management processes, as well as support health and safety initiatives and promote a safety culture within our operation. Additionally, you will assist in the implementation of health and wellbeing programs, occupational health monitoring programs and the Coal Mine Workers Health Scheme for all employees and contractors in accordance with our statutory and corporate obligations.

Your superior communication skills, your strong organisational abilities and attention to detail, along with your capacity to foster effective working relationships, will be crucial to your success in this role. You will display exceptional report writing skills, a high level of initiative and a proven ability to work in a fast –paced, deadline driven environment.

To be successful, you will have a solid understanding of health and safety legislation and hold a relevant qualification in Health & Safety. You will possess extensive experience in a similar role within a large industrial or mining organisation. This role can either be DIDO, with options to live in the Mackay/Whitsundays region or FIFO. This role is based on a nine-day fortnight roster.
