Metallurgical Australia
Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Electrical Planner to assist the CHPP team with electrical planning, developing maintenance strategies, arranging weekly down days and managing secondary work orders.
With extensive interactions across various departments, you will require solid written and verbal communication skills, enjoy solving maintenance problems and be an effective team player.
To be successful in this role you will ensure compliance with all Anglo American safety and operating systems and a commitment to working together as part of a capable, friendly and professional team to achieve business objectives.
You will also enjoy the challenge of maintaining a CHPP, implementing preventative maintenance and managing small projects.

  • Qualifications

-Relevant Trade or diploma qualification in Maintenance Engineering (Electrical)

Experience

  • Minimum (3) years’ experience in an electrical planning function
  • Experience in large open cut mining operation, specifically within the maintenance of a CHPP
  • Maintenance experience within mining operations (preferably coal)
  • Experience with a computer based maintenance system

Skills / Knowledge

  • An understanding and awareness of issues relevant to mine sites
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of heavy industry and mining equipment
  • Knowledge of relevant mining legislation
  • High level of planning and problem solving ability
  • An understanding of key safety risks and ways to mitigate these
  • SAP experience is highly desirable

Additional Information
-This is a full-time, permanent role; Monday-Friday based at our Capcoal Surface Operation in Middlemount, QLD. This role is suitable for both residential and DIDO commuting. Subsidised accommodation is on offer with this role (residentially) and/or camp accommodation.
