Journey of Discovery for Regional Innovators

A two-day trip to Brisbane is set to be a transformative journey for some of Central Queensland’s cutting-edge business operators.

Applications close at 5:00pm, 5 February at chdc.com.au for 10 businesses or individuals from across the Fitzroy region to participate in QODE 2020 on 24 and 25 March.

QODE is Queensland's largest innovation and technology festival for entrepreneurs, technologists, inventors, investors, business executives, researchers, and government.

The Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) is facilitating the Fitzroy delegation as part of Advance Queensland’s Advancing Regional Innovation Program.

“If you’re a motivated and passionate business or individual with an innovative product, service, technique or process that you’re keen to drive further, this opportunity is for you!” CHDC Regional Innovation and Development Coordinator Matt McIntyre says.

“Besides being incredibly exciting and inspirational, QODE will give you access to practical tools and expert mentors and advisers to take your business idea to the next level.

“It’ll drastically expand your knowledge on global technologies and trends and connect you to entrepreneurs and potential investors from around the globe.”

The package for successful applicants includes a full-access ticket to attend QODE, a travel and accommodation subsidy, and exhibit space as part of the Fitzroy region’s delegation within the Regional Innovation Showcase.

Indigenous-operated businesses and female founders are strongly encouraged to apply.

Feedback from the 2019 Fitzroy contingent was overwhelmingly positive.

“Having all that innovation and opportunity in one room ensured that we could cover in two days what would normally take us months,” Economx’s Ben Hughes says.

“QODE enables regional start-ups to connect with people and organisations they would otherwise never encounter in their communities,” iGloo’s Jeremy Hastings says.

Support to get Fitzroy businesses and individuals to QODE is sponsored by Advance Queensland and the Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development.

There were more than 2800 attendees at QODE (pronounced ‘code’) 2019. The festival is organised by the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council and includes keynote presentations from global speakers, technical demonstrations, and pitching, mentoring and networking sessions.
