Call to Local Businesses to Sing Their Own Praises

Posted: 3rd Mar

The call has gone out for local businesses to boast about their hard work and success.

Nominations have opened today to launch the 2021 Central Highlands Business Excellence Awards.

The Awards are a biennial initiative of the Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) to celebrate the region’s diverse and dedicated business community.

“There is so much talent, expertise and drive in the local business community and that’s come further into focus in the past 12 months,” CHDC Chief Executive Officer Arjan Bloemer says.

“We saw so many operators acting quickly and creatively to adapt to the ever-changing trading conditions of the global pandemic and that in itself is worth a toast and celebration.”

A business can be nominated or self-nominate by completing the simple online form at chdc.com.au by COB 1 April.

Categories are Agribusiness, Construction and Trades, Emerging Business, Health and Lifestyle, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Professional and Business Services, Retail, and Tourism.

Winners will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner in Emerald on 11 September.

“I know operators can be reluctant to take time out to boast about their efforts and achievements,” Mr Bloemer says.

“After all, they have a business to run!

“But entering these awards can actually be incredibly valuable, regardless of whether they become a finalist or win, because it increases their exposure and it’s a prompt to reflect on what they’ve achieved so far and what they could do differently in the future.”

This is the fifth time CHDC has hosted the Awards, in collaboration with business, industry, and government partners.

In 2019, the Awards attracted close to 60 entries from more than 110 nominations. The Gala Dinner was attended by 250 guests. 4T Consultants and Fair Dinkum Meats were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The Local Buying Foundation has come on board as an Award category partner for 2021 and other partnership opportunities can be found in the Awards Partnership Prospectus.

The Awards also include a separate People’s Choice category for the general public to vote for a favourite business. Nominations for this category open 26 July.

Further details, including the Partnership Prospectus, can be found at chdc.com.au.
